William Wayne “Coach” Covington, age 88, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at his residence.
Coach was born July 18, 1927, in Guthrie, KY, to the late Clarence Covington and Isabelle Moynahan Covington. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe (Bette) Covington.
Coach earned his nickname, having served as a beloved teacher and coach at Northwest High School for over 35 years. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 11:00 AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Deacon Dominick Azzara officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery, in Adams, TN. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Chapel, and Wednesday, June 8, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the church.
Coach is survived by his wife, Juanita Crawford Covington; five sons, Mark (Judy) Covington, Joe (Patty) Covington, Billy (Sarah) Covington, Bob (Grace) Terry, and Greg (Tonya) Terry; four daughters, Gerry (Tim) Midgett, Terry (Robert) Teeter, Sherry (Steve) Knight, and Suzy (Gary) Simms; one brother, Bobby Paul Covington; two sisters, Tamara (Gary) Cox and Mary Charles King; eighteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Covington, Kevin Covington, Aaron Cox, Tyler Reding, Conrad Reding, and Ronnie Davis.
