CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – William Cody has announced he is running a write-in campaign to represent Ward 2 on the Clarksville City Council.

Cody has lived in Clarksville since 2016 and is a disabled Coast Guard veteran. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Austin Peay State University and is working toward a master’s in history at APSU.

He said he is running is to make Clarksville a “safer and more financially secure city.”

“At present, Clarksville is wanting to build unnecessary park off of Rossview Road that is totally unwanted by a majority of the public is also financial mismanagement city finance,” Cody said. “The money being spent on this park better utilized in upgrading city infrastructure and making our streets and neighborhoods safer. I would propose stopping the construction of this park in the selling of the land using that money on upgrades to the city of Clarksville.”

Cody also expressed concern about people speeding on residential streets in Ward 2. “I propose creasing a police presence on the streets enforce the laws protect the residents both young and old from this danger. As the people’s representative if so chosen to be opening to hearing the concerns of the people of the ward,” he said.

City Council Ward 2 covers northwest Clarksville, bounded by Highway 374, Fort Campbell Boulevard and Dover Road.

Because no candidates qualified by the deadline in Ward 2, only registered write-in candidates will be considered. To vote write-in during voting, select “Write In,” type the candidate’s name, and hit enter.
