William Roland Burney, age 97, of Clarksville passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at Spring Meadows Nursing Home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
He was born June 16, 1916 in Montgomery County, TN to the late William and Mattie Pruitt Burney. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Aldon Burney, Thomas Burney, Carline Felts, Elizabeth Griffy, Mary Burney, Katherine Lowe and Lucille Burney.
He was a member of Forest Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Campbell and the Trane Company. He also drove a school bus in Montgomery County.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
