PARIS, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville football traveled to take on Henry County Friday, Nov. 15 in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs. After overcoming a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat Munford a week ago, the Wildcat magic appeared to wear off against their Region 7-5A foe. Three second-quarter turnovers by Clarksville made things too easy for Henry County who cruised to an eventual 42-14 victory.

The Pats got on the board first with 5:54 remaining in the opening quarter. Jawon Odoms took a Ryan Damron pass 60 yards to the end zone, as Henry County went out in front 7-0.

On the Wildcats’ next drive of the game, Seth Phillips followed his blockers for a 9-yard score to tie things up at 7-7.

It would be all Henry County moving forward after a nightmarish second quarter unfolded for the Wildcats.

Late in the first half, Damron connected with Odoms again for a touchdown, making it 14-7 Patriots.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Wildcat returner put the ball on the deck and the Patriots recovered it deep into Clarksville territory. The costly miscue later resulted in seven more points for Henry County.

After yet another CHS lost fumble, the Pats found pay dirt again and closed out the second quarter by scoring 21 unanswered points.

Henry County didn’t take its foot off of the gas to start the second half, breaking off a 46-yard touchdown run on the second play of the third quarter.

One lone bright spot for CHS came midway through the fourth quarter, as Wildcat freshman quarterback Davin Garinger kept it himself for six points.

Clarksville (7-5) wraps up its season with a second-round exit in the Class 5A playoffs while Henry County (10-2) advances and will host Dyer County (10-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.
