CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Don’t you wish more people knew about your favorite nonprofit in Clarksville? Don’t you wish you had a way to help them raise money?

You can do both through the second annual Clarksville’s Best contest by nominating your favorites in the Best Nonprofit Organization category. Best of all, it’s free to enter, free to vote and free to win.

How it works, what they win

The Nonprofit Organization category, listed under Services, is open to any local nonprofit organization, foundation or service club that has 501(c)(3) status.

Once the nominations are in, voting will begin, and local nonprofits will compete to be named Clarksville’s Best, as voted on by readers here at home.

But it doesn’t end there: The top two Nonprofit Organization vote-getters will compete in a two-week online fundraiser to see who can raise the most money for their group. Clarksville Now will promote both organizations with articles about the good they do in the community, and we’ll encourage people to donate.

Each nonprofit will keep what they raise, of course, but the one who raises the most will be the gold star winner and receive $24,000 in free advertising from 5 Star Media Group. The silver star winner will get $12,000 in advertising.

Last year’s gold star winner was Montgomery County Angel Fund; the silver star winner was Youth Villages. To make sure we spread the love, the gold star winner isn’t eligible to win gold again for three years.

This contest includes over 155 categories in eight voting groups: Eat & Drink, Health & Beauty, Home & Garden, Motors, Schools, Services, Shopping and Things to Do. To see the full list of categories and make your nominations, go to this site.

Nominations start today, Aug. 2, and end Aug. 13. Voting is Aug. 30-Sept. 17. Winners will be announced Nov. 18.
