CLARKSVILLE, TN − Clarksville/Fort Campbell National Federation For the Blind celebrated White Cane Awareness Day on Oct. 15, 2024.
This local chapter is going to hold a White Cane Awareness Day Walk on Oct. 19 at the Greenway by Kenwood Elementary School to confirm the independence that the white cane has provided to our blind community. Mayor Joe Pitts has signed our proclamation making Oct. 15 the official White Cane Awareness Day for Clarksville.
Since 1964, the White Cane Awareness Day has provided education and expanded the awareness of the independence that the white cane has provided for people that are blind or have low-vision impairment. This awareness education has helped many people in our community to be more active members by providing independence and freedom.
