CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – If your family is struggling with holiday expenses, there are a couple of options for help with your Thanksgiving meal in Clarksville this year.

Turkeys For Troops

The eighth annual Turkeys For Troops event will be Saturday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. until the turkeys are gone. This year, 2,000 turkeys will be distributed to military families in need.

The distribution will be at Ajax Distributing 330 Warfield Blvd. This is for active-duty military families, veterans and military spouses only; military ID is required, limit one per household.

Urban Ministries Turkey Distribution

Urban Ministries will host their annual Turkey Distribution on Friday at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Loaves and Fishes. The event will operate as a drive-through, with volunteers handing out 600 turkeys to families in need ahead of the holiday. “We want to make sure that everyone has a turkey on the table,” said Clarksville-Area Urban Ministries Executive Director Jodi McBryant.

Urban Ministries is still seeking volunteers for the distribution. Those interested can sign up here.

Care Day Turkey Giveaway

The Hands On, a United Way initiative, and the Nia Association will be giving away 70 turkeys to families in need on Saturday, Nov. 22, at City of David Christian Center, 1790 Woodlawn Road, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help with the distribution. Sign up to help here. There will be a food truck on site for breakfast and lunch.
