CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Election Commission Office opens its doors at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, for early voting in the Nov. 3 election, and voters should expect long lines, a big ballot and popsicle sticks.
“We do expect lines, but they should move quickly because we’re going to have a lot of workers in here working. Please remember to bring a Tennessee or federally issued photo ID with you, and we ask that you pack your patience,” said Montgomery County Administrator of Elections Elizabeth Black.
The Election Commission isn’t allowed to require masks now that the county mandate has ended. However, With concerns over COVID-19, voters are strongly encouraged to wear them. Social distancing will be in effect.
Other safety measures inside include plastic hanging at each of the voter registration sites as well as plastic hanging down the hallways separating the one-way path into and out of the room with the voting machines.
When they enter, each voter will be given a pen for registration that they will keep and a popsicle stick, called a craft stick, to use to make their choices on the voting machine so they will not have to use their fingers.
