CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – West Creek Middle School was temporarily evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to smoke in the second floor hallway.

Students were moved to West Creek High School while officials investigated.

Elise Shelton, Communications Director for CMCSS, said a mechanical issue appears to be the cause for the smoke.

Clarksville Fire Rescue inspected the building and determined that the air quality was safe, and students began returning to the building Tuesday afternoon.

“There was no fire; however, we are not sending students to their second floor classrooms,” Shelton said.

No injuries were reported and the mechanical staff will continue to investigate the issue.
