CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – West Creek High School football is entering year two under head coach Michael Booker. After narrowly missing the playoffs last year, the Coyotes have had a productive offseason and look to compete into November during the 2025-26 season.

“In the offseason, we saw a lot of improvement in a lot of areas – culturally, athletically, and the maturity level is just different,” Booker told Clarksville Now. “We’ve got a good core of seniors, and a lot of underclassmen who have followed their lead. I’d take my guys to battle against anyone else.”

The Coyotes went 4-6 in their first year under Booker, and fell just one victory short of a postseason berth in the final week of the season. Now in a new region, accompanied by Clarksville High, Rossview High and several Metro-Nashville schools, West Creek has made some intentional changes to how they run things.

“We’ve tried to practice with intent,” said Booker. “There are a couple of things that we’ve changed as far as structure. Some days, we can’t do everything, but we want to be really good at the things we’re good at. We don’t need a big playbook; we just want it to be simple and fast, and seize the opportunities when they present themselves.”

Booker said the theme for the season is accountability. Not only are individual players able to take accountability, but coaches as well, to move as one complete unit on the field. As far as Booker is concerned, they’re either all right or all wrong – no in between.

“We want to move as one collective, especially up front,” said Booker. “If we can control the line of scrimmage, we’re going to be a pretty good team. Accountability is huge for us, players and coaches. If we run the wrong play, but 11 guys are all running the wrong way on the field, we’re right.”
