CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The West Creek Coyotes traveled to the Castle at Kenwood High School for a rivalry showdown – the Battle of Peachers Mill – with the Knights. After a low-scoring, messy, defensive battle, where turnovers ended up being the difference, the Coyotes won on a late second half touchdown, 13-6.

The game started fast, with Kenwood turning the ball over on one of their first plays from scrimmage, resulting in a DJ McCoy rushing touchdown for the Coyotes a few plays later, grabbing them an early 6-0 lead.

West Creek head coach Micheal Booker said his squad was all business at practice all week, and the early score reflected that. “We did not take this game lightly,” said Booker. “I know that in the past we might have won the last couple years, but we saw on film how talented they are. Luckily tonight, things went our way.”

Kenwood did not go quietly, as quarterback Jacoby Cox would connect with Josiah Brown on a perfect strike for a touchdown, and the Knights tied the game at 6 a piece headed into halftime. Kenwood head coach Jahrett Snead was proud of the score, but knows the turnovers need to be fixed, as the Knights had four on the night.

“Our turnovers killed us on every drive,” said Snead. “If you play a 13-6 game and you have four fumbles, you’re not gonna win, it doesn’t matter how good you are. We just have to take care of the ball.”

West Creek punched in a rushing touchdown from Isiah Williamson in the second half to take a 13-6 lead, and that’s what the score remained for the rest of the game, with the Coyotes winning the Battle of Peaches Mill for the third year in a row. For Booker, it’s a statement win he looks to build off of, with several tough games coming up in his schedule, and the undefeated Wildcats on deck next week.

“We showed some tenacity,” said Booker. “We went in the locker room then came out here and kept their heads up, and it ended up working out. I’m proud of our guys, and we gotta keep fighting. We have a couple really tough games coming up, but we got some athletes. It’s time to get focused and get used to being in first place.”
