CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk Wendy Davis has announced her campaign for re-election in the Aug. 6 General Election.

Davis has lived in Clarksville since 1979 and graduated from Northwest High School. She began her career in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office in 1996 and served for 18 years as chief deputy clerk before being elected to the position in 2020.

During her time as Circuit Court Clerk, Davis said, the clerk’s office has expanded online resources for the public, making documents and court forms available online along with General Sessions civil court dates and dockets. The office also implemented electronic filing for Circuit Court civil cases and is currently working toward e-filing capabilities for General Sessions civil cases.

Her office has scanned General Sessions case documents and is currently working on a large project to digitize older records to help protect and preserve the county’s legal history. The clerk’s office has hosted expungement clinics to help eligible residents clear their records and move forward with new opportunities.

As Montgomery County’s population has grown, Davis has increased staffing in the clerk’s office to accommodate additional judges, increased case filings, and the flow of court proceedings. The office has also maintained a strong record of financial accountability, receiving perfect audits with no findings during her time as clerk.

Davis was appointed secretary of the Middle Tennessee Court Clerks Association, continuing her involvement in statewide collaboration with other court clerks. “It has been the privilege of my life to serve the community I love as your Circuit Court Clerk,” Davis said. “I’m proud of the progress our office has made to improve access, protect important records, and serve the courts efficiently. I would be honored to continue serving the people of Montgomery County.”
