Update, 1:40 p.m.: The Red River is expected to have major flooding at Port Royal on Sunday, according to the NWS. Projections show the river reaching 43.2 feet, which is 3.2 feet above the major flood level, at noon on Sunday.

That projection is likely to shift as we get closer to the event, especially for the Red, which is not controlled by the TVA dam system.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Another 4-5 inches of rain expected to fall this weekend on already saturated ground in Clarksville, leading to a Flood Watch from midnight Friday through noon Sunday.

There’s also a chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. “If storms are able to become severe, then all hazards – including damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes – are possible,” the NWS said.

The Cumberland River is expected to rise in Clarksville, and there’s a slight chance it could top the 50-foot “moderate flood” stage.
