CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We’re one week away from the bye week for most Montgomery County teams. Before we get there, Week 8 has huge implications for the playoff race and home-field advantage in the postseason. Here are the matchups, with some on Thursday and some on Friday.

Thursday games

Clarksville Now’s Game of the Week: Kirkwood (6-1) @ Clarksville (7-0)

The game of the year to this point is on Thursday at Hilda J. Richardson Field. The Cobras will look to grab their first win over Clarksville in program history and take first place in the region standings behind quarterback Miles Reding. Clarksville looks to extend its winning streak and maintain its hold on first place, led by linebacker Jack Stein, who leads the county in tackles.

The Kenwood Knights took the win over the Northeast Eagles Football. October 4, 2024. (Jeff Danault)

Kenwood (1-5) @ Northwest (1-6)

This game is crucial for these two teams if they want to stay alive in the playoff race. Last week’s Player of the Week, Jakoby Cox, will try to lead the Knights to a second straight victory. Safety Anthony Holland will have something to say about that, as he had an interception against Clarksville last week.

Rossview (6-1) @ McGavock (2-6)

The Hawks take a trip to Metro-Nashville for a matchup with the Raiders. While it is a non-region matchup, the Hawks need to take care of business, as overall record is a tie-breaker for playoff seeding.

Friday games

The Kenwood Knights took the win over the Northeast Eagles Football. October 4, 2024. (Jeff Danault)

Northeast (0-7) @ West Creek (3-4)

With both teams coming off losses, the Coyotes and Eagles look to rebound in this rivalry matchup. Last season, West Creek beat Northeast for the first time in school history, and they look to celebrate their senior night with a win. Northeast looks to spoil the occasion for their first win of the year.

Marshall County (7-0) @ Montgomery Central (1-6)

The undefeated Tigers are taking a trip across the river to visit the Indians at Montgomery Central. It’s senior night on the hill, and they’ll need all their experienced players to step up big-time if they want to upset Marshall County.

Clarksville Academy (1-5) @ Donelson Christian (6-1)

The Cougars have a huge regional game against the Wildcats on Friday. Coming off a loss against Columbia, they’ll look to rebound and keep their playoff hopes alive.
