CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Week six in Clarksville high school football is slated to be a fun one with three inner-city matchups, rivalries renewed, and playoff positioning all on the line this week. Let’s take a look at the list of games, which are all set to take place on Friday.

Clarksville Now Game of the Week: Clarksville Academy Cougars (2-3) @ Montgomery Central Indians (1-4)

In a rivalry renewed for the first time since 2016, the “Battle on the River” returns this Friday night.

It’ll be a matchup of contrasting styles, with the Cougars ‘ pass-heavy up-tempo offense and the Indians’ downhill run-heavy approach. Bragging rights are on the line as each team looks to capture the victory.

Clarksville High Wildcats (3-2) @ West Creek Coyotes (0-5)

This is a region matchup with two teams on different trajectories at this point in the season. After a 0-2 start, the Wildcats have looked more like their usual selves the last few weeks, winning their last three games by an average of 37 points.

West Creek is still searching for their first win of the season but has seemed to figure out a formula to put points on the board offensively, showcased by their three passing touchdowns against Rossview High on Monday. Rest will also play a heavy factor in this one.

Kenwood High Knights (2-3) @ Northwest High Vikings (2-3)

A huge matchup in region 7-5A takes place at Northwest High on Friday night for homecoming. Both teams are 0-1 in region play, and falling into a 0-2 hole to start your region schedule could be very harmful to both squads’ playoff chances.

Both teams are also coming off losses, with Kenwood falling to Pearl Cohn last Friday, and Northwest losing a region contest to Dickson County on Saturday Morning.

McGavock Raiders (1-4) @ Rossview High Hawks (1-4)

Fresh off their first win in the Stratie Young era, the Hawks celebrate homecoming night against the McGavock Raiders this weekend. McGavock is currently running a Clarksville gauntlet, with three straight games against Montgomery County opponents.

The Hawks will look to string together their second straight region victory and improve to 2-1 overall in the region, boosting their playoff chances in region 7-6A.

Dickson County Cougars (4-1) @ Kirkwood High Cobras (4-1)

The storylines going into this region matchup are plentiful. Kirkwood was upset by Dickson County last season at home and are looking for revenge as the Cougars make a return trip to “The Pit”.

This matchup features the number one and the number three ranked teams in region 7-5A. So, this is not only a huge game for region standings but also may potentially serve as a playoff tiebreaker down the road.

Northeast High Eagles (2-3) @ Mount Juliet Golden Bears (0-5)

Northeast is currently on a three-game slide, including a loss to a walk-off field goal against James Lawson last week. They’ll travel to Mount Juliet hoping to even their record at 3-3.

The Golden Bears’ 0-5 record might look alarming, but they’ve had tough matchups to start the season, against opponents such as Beech, Friendship Christian, and Antioch.

Fort Campbell Falcons (3-2) @ Caldwell County Tigers (4-1)

After an 0-2 start to the season, the Falcons couldn’t be hotter throughout their last three games played. Fort Campbell has averaged 44 points a contest in that timeframe, while only giving up an average of 12 points per game to their opponents.

The second region test for the Falcons will be the talented Caldwell County Tigers, who are averaging 45 points a contest.
