CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of Middle Tennessee through 2:00am Sunday morning.

Clarksville, Springfield, and Coopertown are included in a Thunderstorm Warning through 11:30pm.

A tornado watch is currently in effect through 2:00am Sunday, March 29. The storm cell is moving from Arkansas through Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana.

The KY Department of Transportation has confirmed damage to two facilities in Henderson County, Ky due to a suspected tornado.

The National Weather Service in Paducah has notified residents in those areas that the storms will begin to subside as the evening continues.

Residents are advised to do the following:
– Seek shelter immediately if a WARNING is issued. A tornado watch means a storm with the ability to produce a tornado is possible. When a tornado has been spotted on the ground, or is indicated by weather radar, the NWS will issue a warning.
– If you are outdoors or in a mobile home, find a safer indoor location.
– Have cell phones charged and/or a weather radio on hand. Local radio stations will provide wall-to-wall coverage during a tornado warning.
– Bring all pets indoors, or into a safe location that is not outside.
– Have a room in your home without windows or an exterior wall that is a safe location for the family.
– If you have small children, make sure they have a comfort object with them to bring into your storm location.
– Have a supply of water bottles, snacks, flashlights (with batteries) and a first aid kit in the shelter location.
