CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- Meteorologists are predicting a rainy couple of days and strong storms rolling in late Thursday night.
Brendan Schaper, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Nashville, said Wednesday, March 11, Clarksville-Montgomery County can expect a few rain showers.
“They will be weakening as they move in,” Schaper said. “I don’t think we will see heavy rain just a brief couple of showers.”
Wednesday evening the condition should calm down, but it is the quiet before the storm Thursday.
A warm front will move in Thursday morning and into the afternoon, Schaper said.
Temperatures are expected to be in the 60s.
“As we get into the afternoon Thursday, we may have scattered showers,” Schaper said, “A cold front will move in Thursday night and spark thunderstorms and could be a potential for severe thunderstorms.”
There’s a chance for hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.
Clarksville is in the path of the storms and is at a slightly elevated risk, Shaper said.
“The important thing is the severe weather will come after dark so [people] need to have multiple ways to receive warnings including weather radio and other sources, multiple ways to get warnings,” Shaper said.
