CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The National Weather Service storm survey team has confirmed that a low-end EF1 tornado touched down in Clarksville Monday night.

Meteorologist Larry Vannozzi said the tornado touched the ground in the neighborhood surrounding Richview Rd. Winds from the storm reached up to 90 miles per hour.

Vannozzi said the majority of the damage consists of trees and no structures were significantly damaged by the winds.

More than 5,000 homes lost power during the height of the storm. Other areas of the mid state reported golf ball-sized hail.

The Flood Watch for Clarksville has expired but counties to the east are still at risk for flash flooding.
