CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – As a major storm rolls toward Middle Tennessee, weather radios in Montgomery and surrounding counties are offline.
Three Middle Tennessee National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration radio transmitters are offline as of Thursday morning, according to Clarksville Now news partner WKRN, Channel 2. The down transmitters are impacting Montgomery, Stewart, Dickson, Hickman and Robertson counties, in addition to Christian and Todd counties in Kentucky.
“They are working on it,” said Ed Baggett, Montgomery County EMA director. “They have found the problem and are working on getting it back up.”
Tornado sirens are not affected.
The NWS advised residents to tune in to local commercial radio for the latest weather information.
Local severe weather alerts are broadcast on radio stations Beaver 100.3, Q108, Z97.5, Rewind 94.3 and NewZee 105.5, and they are posted on ClarksvilleNow.com.
Clarksville will see thunderstorms during the day, with the worst of the weather late tonight.
“We’ll have some rain; we’ll have some pretty strong wind as the day goes on,” Baggett said. “But I think our biggest threat is later tonight after 10 o’clock. We may see some stronger storms move through.”
Damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes and localized flash flooding will all be possible, according to the NWS.
