CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With several roads in Clarksville and Montgomery County closed by standing water, school and office closures announcements have begun. Here are the closings and delays reported so far.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools
All CMCSS schools will be closed Monday, April 7. District offices will be open. However, if 12-month or other district-level employees have been impacted by the flooding, please communicate with your direct supervisor.
“Currently, there are over 30 roads closed throughout Clarksville-Montgomery County. By the time floodwaters crest this evening, an estimated 4,500 or more residents may not be able to access their neighborhoods or homes, and emergency crews are currently evacuating dozens of residents. Please stay tuned to local news and follow the guidance of emergency personnel,” said a CMCSS statement.
CMCSS received a waiver from the Commissioner of Education to excuse two instructional days. Therefore, we will not need to make up any days at this time. CMCSS leadership will continue coordinating with local agencies and will communicate tomorrow regarding the status of school on Tuesday.
“As floodwaters begin receding tomorrow, our hope is to return to school as soon as possible, with the understanding that many families will need continued support in the days and weeks ahead. Many CMCSS employees have been volunteering through the weekend, and we will continue to provide support to families and the community,” the statement said.
