CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With Flood Warnings issued for Clarksville for the coming days, some schools and offices are closing or operating on delayed schedules Friday.
CMCSS closed
All Clarksville-Montgomery County schools and district offices will be closed Friday. Friday’s closure will exceed the five inclement stockpile days by one day for this school year, CMCSS said. However, with Gov. Bill Lee issuing a State of Emergency, CMCSS leadership will request a waiver from the Tennessee Department of Education.
“Please know we do not take these decisions lightly,” the announcement said. “Our top priority is always the safety of the nearly 40,000 students, over 25,000 who are transported on our buses daily, 6,000 employees, and thousands of families in the 544 square miles of Clarksville-Montgomery County. Across the region, this storm system has triggered the most warnings since April 2011 and produced the third most active severe weather day in nearly four decades.
APSU going remote
Austin Peay State University will continue with a second day of remote operations Friday, with classes online. Only emergency personnel should report to campus.
Residence halls remain open, and dining services will operate on modified hours for residential students.
DAC event canceled
The Downtown Artists Cooperative will not be open Thursday night, and the reception DAC and the Clarksville Arts and Heritage Council had planned for Kitty Harvill and Christoph Hrdina is canceled.
