Update, Thursday night: The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Montgomery and surrounding counties for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

South winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected.

“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the NWS said.

“Winds will ramp up starting around 3 a.m. With grounds already wet, some trees will come down much easier leading to power outages.

“Winds will begin to relax from west to east starting around sunset Friday evening.”

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With severe storms moving across Middle Tennessee, Clarksville could see wind gusts of up to 55 mph on Friday.

Montgomery and surrounding counties are under a Wind Advisory Friday from 3 a.m. to midnight.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result,” the advisory said.

The worst of the severe weather is expected in the southern counties of Middle Tennessee, but there’s a risk of severe storms in Montgomery County as well.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms before 3pm, then a chance of showers between 3pm and 5pm. Temperature rising to near 66 by 10am, then falling to around 54 during the remainder of the day. Windy, with a south southeast wind 20 to 30 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Windy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 66. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
