Update, 5 p.m.: The thunderstorm is rolling across Clarksville, with heavy rain, winds in excess of 40 mph and a risk of flooding.

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Flood Advisory for southeastern Montgomery County until 7 p.m. The advisory also includes Cheatham County, northwestern Davidson County, northern Dickson County and northern Robertson County.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Strong storms are headed toward Montgomery County with winds in excess of 40 mph.

At 3:58 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 11 miles east of Erin to 8 miles west of Dickson, according to the National Weather Service. Movement was northeast at 20 mph.

Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of Dickson, southern Montgomery and northwestern Cheatham Counties through 4:45 p.m.

“Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects,” the NWS alert said. “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
