CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A surprise set of strong thunderstorms is rolling across Middle Tennessee today.
At 4:27 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles west of Clarksville with possible wind gusts up to 40 mph and half-inch hail. This thunderstorm was nearly stationary, according to the National Weather Service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible,” the NWS said.
The storms came as a surprise, as the NWS forecast as of Thursday afternoon still called for sunny skies today with no chance of rain. But that forecast has now changed for the entire weekend, with a chance of showers and storms each day.
