Update, 4:15 p.m.: Strong to severe thunderstorms may continue late this afternoon into the evening hours today, the NWS said. Strong gusty to damaging winds will be main concern.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A strong thunderstorm is rolling toward Clarksville.

The storm will impact portions of western Montgomery and east central Stewart Counties through 3:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

At 3:13 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking the storm near Indian Mound, or 9 miles southeast of Big Rock, moving southeast at 15 mph.

There’s a risk of winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.

“Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible,” the NWS said.

Locations impacted include Clarksville, Indian Mound, Palmyra and Woodlawn.

“If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building,” NWS said.
