Update, 12:15 a.m.: Highway 48 at Batson Road was closed this morning after a tree fell on Louise Creek Bridge, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. State crews were working to clear the road and assess the bridge for damage. Detours were in place.

Memorial Drive Extension and Cooper Creek Road was flooded.

Update, 11 a.m.: A Flooding Advisory has been issued for Montgomery and surrounding counties through 1:30 p.m. today.

“Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected,” the National Weather Service said.

Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain has fallen in the area, which is likely to bring minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” the NWS said,.

Update, 9:30 a.m.: Montgomery and surrounding counties remain under a Tornado Watch through 11 a.m.

With 2 to 3 inches of rain expected today, we are under a Flood Watch from noon through Wednesday morning.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the NWS said.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for western Montgomery County and Stewart County until 8:15 a.m.

A storm with 60 mph winds is coming toward us from the west, according to the National Weather Service.

“Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the alert said. “For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.”

Montgomery and several surrounding counties are also under a Tornado Watch until 11 a.m. today.

A Tornado Watch means that conditions could produce a tornado in the area. If a tornado is spotted, a Tornado Warning will be issued.
