CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The following Kentucky counties are now under a Winter Storm Watch: Trigg, Todd, Lyon, Christian and Caldwell.
The watch is in effect through noon Thursday, Feb. 11. Residents could get snow, sleet and freezing rain late tonight, with more coming Tuesday night through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky.
“Snow and sleet will develop into the evening hours for the advisory area. Later this evening and overnight, light freezing drizzle or freezing rain is expected to create a thin glaze on top of the snow,” the alert said.
“Another extended period of wintry precipitation is expected from late Tuesday night through Thursday morning, with potentially significant ice accumulations possible.”
Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible, and ice accumulations could get up to 1/4 an inch.
“Most of the wintry precipitation will hold off until Wednesday afternoon for the Pennyrile region of west Kentucky,” the alert said.
“Plan on slippery road conditions. Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be dangerous. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.”
Clarksville forecast
Clarksville will see some of the effects, but conditions won’t be as bad.
On Wednesday night, there’s an 80% chance of rain possibly mixed with freezing rain in the evening, then light freezing rain possibly mixed with rain after midnight. Lows will be around 30.
Thursday will likely bring light freezing rain in the morning, then a chance of light freezing rain mixed with rain in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation 70 percent, with highs in the mid-30s. Thursday night’s lows will be in the lower 20s.
