Update, 3:30 p.m.: A Significant Weather Advisory has been issued for southeastern Montgomery, northeastern Dickson and northern Cheatham counties until 4:15 p.m. for a storm that’s moving west.
At 3:25 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Ashland City, moving west at 20 mph, bringing possible half-inch hail and winds in excess of 30 mph.
Locations impacted include Clarksville, Ashland City, Pleasant View and Cheatham Dam.
“Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding,” the NWS alert said. “Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.”
“Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Christian and Trigg Counties in Kentucky through 3:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service warning is for southwestern Christian and northeastern Trigg.
At 2:46 p.m., radar detected a severe thunderstorm 8 miles west of Hopkinsville, moving northwest at 20 mph, bringing a risk of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
“Hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the alert said.
Locations impacted include Gracey, Cerulean and possibly Cadiz.
“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building,” the alert said.
Clarksville area
In Clarksville, showers and thunderstorms will continue through the afternoon, with some storms being and able to produce some gusty winds, hail and heavy rainfall, according to the NWS.
As for the rest of the week, additional showers and thunderstorms will move in Wednesday through Friday, with some strong storms possible during the afternoon Wednesday and again Thursday afternoon and evening.
Gusty winds and heavy rain will be the main threats.
