CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With a heat index ranging up toward 105 to 110 later today, a heat advisory has been put in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday night.

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for Montgomery and surrounding counties. As of 1 p.m., the temperature was recorded at 91 degrees, and the heat index was recorded at 102.

“Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside,” the NWS said. “When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.

“To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9-1-1.”

As the work week begins, weather should be sunny and clear up until Thursday when there’s an expected chance of showers and thunderstorms.
