Update, 2:35 p.m.: A new Heat Advisory has been issued for noon Tuesday through 8 p.m. Friday. Dangerous heat index values will be peaking at around 107 each afternoon, according to the NWS.

Update, 10:40 a.m.: Manna Café will keep its Cooling Center open this week for longer hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., due to the excessive heat forecasted. The cooling center is in the Manna Refuge building at 503 D St.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With a high of 97 degrees and a heat index of 107 expected, Montgomery and surrounding counties are under a Heat Advisory today.

The advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur,” the NWS said. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

There’s little relief in site, with highs rising to 98 on Wednesday and 100 on Thursday. Here’s the outlook:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 74. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 107. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the morning.

Tuesday night: Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 73. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, sunny and hot, with a high near 98. North northeast wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. South wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
