CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Winter Storm Warning has now been issued for Montgomery County, from 6 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, with 4 to 6 inches of snow accumulation, plus ice.

“A significant winter storm looks definite,” according to the National Weather Service. “Mainly freezing rain tonight, mainly snow late Monday with some sleet in the mix.”

And no melting is expected after the storm on Tuesday.

Ice accumulations of around two tenths of an inch are expected.

“Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills as low as zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the advisory said.

“A mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will develop tonight into early Monday, then precipitation will change to all snow by Monday afternoon. Most of the snow accumulation will occur Monday afternoon and evening. Very cold air following the storm will make travel conditions slow to improve through Tuesday.”

The warning includes Montgomery, Robertson, Cheatham, Stewart, Houston and Dickson counties. In Kentucky, it includes Trigg, Todd, Lyon, Christian, Christian and Caldwell counties.
