Update, 7:50 a.m. Tuesday: The NWS has updated the forecast to reflect a decreased threat of severe storms for our area. Flash flooding remains the greatest threat.

“We have seen widespread amounts of 1 to 3 inches of rainfall from Monday evening to now,” a morning alert said. “Additional amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible throughout the day today. Expect area creeks to begin to rise in response to the runoff and localized flooding could become an issue later this morning.”

Wind gust of 20 to 30mph are still possible today and tomorrow.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Montgomery and surrounding counties, effective from 7 p.m. today through late Tuesday night.

“Widespread heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Hurricane Ida are expected to affect portions of Middle Tennessee beginning tonight through late Tuesday night,” the National Weather Service alert said.

“Rainfall amounts between 2 to 5 inches can be expected, with locally higher amounts possible. Prolonged heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding issues.”
