CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Residents woke to a dusting of snow Sunday morning, and it has caused several vehicle crashes.

At 7:25 a.m., Clarksville Police said between 5:40 and 7:20, there were eight crashes in Montgomery County. “We want to remind everyone that bridges tend to ice over before roadways, so please exercise extra caution if you must travel today,” CPD spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien said.

At 7:30 a.m., light snow was still falling downtown, but it had stopped by 8 a.m.

Cold Weather Advisory tonight

There are no current alerts, but Clarksville will be under a Cold Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. Sunday through noon Monday. With lows in the single digits, wind chills as low as 5 below 0 are expected.

The low is expected to dip to 8 degrees Sunday night in Clarksville, and Monday’s high will be only 23 degrees.

“The cold wind chills as low as 5 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the NWS said. “Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.”

Emergency Warming Shelter

Anyone needing shelter can go to the Clarksville Area Urban Ministries Emergency Warming Shelter at the Madison Street UMC Gymnasium, 300 Commerce St. The shelter is open seven days a week, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., for as long as the overnight temperatures are below freezing. The shelter is in particular need of volunteers and is urging people to sign up online to help.

Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -1. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

  • Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 9. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the morning.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. South southwest wind around 5 mph.
