CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Live entertainment is making is way back to Clarksville with the Water Circus by Cirque Italia. This show features performers from all over the world who have eye-catching talents.
Abbey Lawley, one of the dancers, said this set of shows is different from anything they’ve done previously. “This year we have a brand new 2021 show. It’s 1950s theme, we have brand new acts, new costumes, everything is a new theme.”
“We have a bow and arrow act, I’ve seen it hundreds of times, but every single time I see it, it still gets my heart racing,” Lawley said.
“It’s really a spectacular thing to witness,” Sarah Kessler, the public relations and media representative for Cirque Entertainment told Clarksville Now. “Most of our performers come from circus families, so they start training when they are, like, 3 years old.”
Kessler said this traveling circus has a rich history starting in Italy.
Manuel Rebecchi, the founder of Cirque Italia, was inspired by his great aunt, who operates the biggest traveling circus in Europe, to bring live entertainment to the masses. Cirque Italia runs three shows: “The Water Circus Silver,” “The Water Circus Gold” and “The Paranormal Cirque.”
The circus is based around the talent of the performers with no animal involvement, but Rebecchi did have the idea to include water, and this show holds about 35,000 gallons of water.
COVID-19 disrupted these performances, but Kessler said everyone’s passion for the circus kept them going.
“We made it through, and it’s because our performers are so passionate about what they do.”
One of the contortionists, Desire Cardinale, said she’s excited to be performing again. “To be able to do what I love to do and travel everywhere, well, that’s amazing.”
The shows will run April 15 to April 18. You can buy tickets here.
