CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Runners will take to the streets Saturday, September 15 for the Valor Run half marathon, 5k, and Memorial Mile.

The race will begin at Beachaven Winery and move through Montgomery County. Races will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the entire event will end by 11:30 a.m.

The race will begin in front of Beachaven Winery and move from International Blvd to Alfred Thun Road and on into the county. Drivers and residents can expect intermittent delays in the area. Roads will not be closed and traffic will not be diverted. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. If driving through please use caution and be mindful of the runners on the road.

There will be intermittent delays along the race route which travels through areas surrounding Beachaven Winery including: Alfred Thun Road, Corporate Parkway, International Boulevard, Charles Bell Road, Hampton Station Road, Kirkwood Road, and Dunlop Lane.

There is still time to sign up for the race. Runners must register in person at Tennova Medical Center, 651 Dunlop Lane from 10 a.m.– 7 p.m.The Health and Wellness Expo is also the location of packet pick up for runners who have already registered. Packet pick up race morning will be extremely limited, everyone is encouraged to pick up Friday.

The whole family is invited to experience the race together, with a distance for every member of the family. The Half Marathon powered by CDE Lightband begins at 7:30 a.m. and moves through the gently rolling hills of rural Tennessee. The Visit Clarksville 5k starts at 7:45 a.m. and is a fast and flat course perfect for a runner of any ability. The Memorial Mile sponsored by AARP begins at 10:30 a.m., paying tribute to Fort Campbell soldiers and their families. The entire event has a 4 hour time limit, so runners must be off the roads by 11:30 a.m.

Runners and their guests can also enjoy the Welcome Home Veterans Celebration tributes on display at Beachaven. Due to limited parking, runners will be asked to take the shuttles from Governors Square Mall. Shuttles will run from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. All runners can park near the back of Sears and ride one of the shuttles (school buses) to Beachaven Winery.

There will be a bag check at the Winery for those needing to leave keys or personal items. Those needing handicap accommodations must have a vehicle with a handicap placard and can park near the Winery. This space is limited and is first come, first served.
