CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville mother has been charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect after allegedly leaving her 6-month-old child alone at home.
According to an arrest warrant, police responded to a call June 10 on Harding Dr. The caller told police she arrived at the home to take care of the pets inside, then heard a baby crying in an upstairs room.
The woman had to break into the room because it was locked and found the 6-month-old child crying in her car seat, which was sitting on a bed.
No one else was inside the residence.
The homeowner returned from picking up food shortly afterward and told police she did not know the baby was in the home and was not contacted about watching the child.
The child’s mother, 27-year-old Tamra Gall, eventually came home and told police she texted the homeowner and asked her to watch the child while she left for a moment. However, she said she did not wait for a reply and left the baby unsupervised. She told police she expected to be gone for about 15 minutes and saw two vehicles in the driveway when she left. She also said she did not check to see if anyone was home.
Gall was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. Her bond was set at $10,000.
