CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Police say a man who was caught on a surveillance video breaking into a Clarksville apartment was arrested a day later when he returned to the complex to inquire about renting an apartment.
The Leaf-Chronicle reports 19-year-old Immanuel D. Newsom of Nashville was charged with aggravated burglary Dec. 4.
According to the arrest warrant, Newsom broke into an apartment at University Landing Dec. 3, stealing a hoverboard and PlayStation 4.
The next day, Newsom went to the apartment complex’s office and asked if he could rent an apartment. Staff recognized him from reviewing the video surveillance from the day before and called police.
Police say Newsom told investigators that he broke into the apartment, took the items and pawned the PlayStation. It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
