CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Christmas means many things to many people, and there’s one event in Clarksville that brings those in need of help, and those who want to help, together for a day to share the true spirit of the holidays.
Warm Souls Christmas with Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries helps hundreds of homeless and financially struggling people. The 12th Annual Warm Souls Christmas is Tuesday, December 24, with doors opening at 10 a.m. at Austin Peay State University’s Morgan University Center.
Everything that Warm Souls Christmas offers is free. Along with a holiday meal there will be clothing, toys, household goods, as well as haircuts and family portraits for Christmas during the event.
In 2018, Warm Souls Christmas welcomed over 900 people through its doors and served more than 750 meals. There were 150 pairs of shoes and 650 new gifts for children given away, along with much more.
Jon Vaughn, Executive Director of Warm Souls Christmas, says they are still in need of volunteers and donations of items, especially toys for youngsters between 10-12-years-old at the event. Vaughn said donations can be dropped off at Community of Hope First Nazarene Church, 150 Richview Rd.
Volunteers can also sign up here.
The Clarksville Transit System will also help spread the holiday spirit of Warm Souls Christmas by offering free rides from any bus stop within the city limits to and from APSU’s University Center.
An event of this size can’t happen without the holiday spirit and support of over 100 local churches, organizations, and businesses as well as over 600 volunteers who assist the close to 1,000 people who attend each year.
