CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police are asking for public’s help locating a woman who attacked a police officer with bear spray after she was caught shoplifting with two other women.

On Oct. 9, officers responded to the T.J. Maxx on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard after a group of females were reported to be shoplifting. A sergeant with CPD approached one of the women in the parking lot, and she sprayed him with bear spray. The three women fled in a black Dodge Avenger.

According to CPD spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien, detectives with CPD’s District 3 Criminal Investigations were assigned the case, and the vehicle was quickly located in Nashville. With the assistance of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the vehicle and one of the suspects were located and taken into custody in Nashville.

Police say 25-year-old Daniell Pitt of Nashville was the one who used bear spray on the officer. She was seen on video surveillance cameras as well as the sergeants’ body-worn camera. She has warrants for the following charges: aggravated assault on a first responder, felony theft and felony evading. Detectives believe that she has fled the Nashville area.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and detectives are working to identify the other suspects.
