CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Police Department is investigating an Identity Theft/Check Fraud case and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect.
According to CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien, on May 27, a victim reported that a check they had mailed as a bill payment on May 6, had been intercepted, altered, and fraudulently cashed on May 7.
“The individual who cashed the check identified himself as ‘Daniel Lee Kirby,’ the name listed as the payee on the altered check,” said Beaubien.
Detectives with the Clarksville Police Department’s District 2 Criminal Investigations Unit obtained surveillance footage from the financial institution, showing images of the individual who cashed the check. “Detectives are asking anyone who may recognize the suspect, particularly based on his clothing or appearance, to please contact Detective Alquzweeni at (931) 648-0656, ext. 5366,” he said.
