CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The vice president for Student Affairs at Austin Peay State University has been placed on administrative leave.

Eric M. Norman, a member of the president’s Cabinet at APSU, was put on leave with pay until further notice on Friday, APSU spokesman Bill Persinger confirmed to Clarksville Now.

As with anyone placed on administrative leave, he cannot return to campus until told otherwise, Persinger said.

When asked why Norman was put on leave, Persinger said university officials were unable to discuss personnel issues.

Clarksville Now has reached out to Norman for comment.

Norman has been at APSU since Jan. 28, 2019, and he was hired by former President Alisa White.

He was previously vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students at Purdue University-Fort Wayne. Prior to that, he was associate dean of students and director of student advocacy and accountability at Louisiana State University and director of fraternity and sorority life at Virginia Tech, according to his hiring announcement.

Norman earned his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Delaware.

He is a leader in the field of student affairs, having delivered national presentations on subjects ranging from addressing the needs of students with intellectual disabilities to re-examining the role of the dean of students, according to the hiring announcement.
