CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) On Tuesday, March 3, voters will head to the polls for the Presidential Preference and Montgomery County Primary. If you are not currently registered to vote in Montgomery County, the voter registration deadline is Monday, February 3.
Tennessee is an open primary state which means registered voters must declare their political party preference in order to vote in a primary. In order to vote March 3, you must choose which Party Primary, Republican or Democratic, you wish to vote in.
The administrator of Elections for Montgomery County, Elizabeth Black, said voter registration is not difficult.
“The easiest and quickest way to register is through our online voter registration and that’s for anybody who has a Tennessee ID or driver’s license,” Black said. “They can do that at govotetn.com.”
Black added that residents can also register at any driver’s license center, forms are available at the U.S. Post Office, or you can register at the Montgomery County Election Commission Office in Veterans Plaza Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Early voting for registered voters for the March 3 Presidential Preference and Montgomery County Primary will be held February 12-25 at the Montgomery County Election Commission Office in Veterans Plaza.
Local races on the Montgomery County Primary for March 3 include Circuit Court Judge-Part V, Assessor of Property and Highway Supervisor. Independent candidates for the office of Highway Supervisor will only appear on the August 2020 ballot.
