CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, in partnership with Five Star Radio Group, Zaxby’s and The Youth Academy, will host its’ 4th Annual Stuff the Bus effort at local Wal-Mart stores July 20 and 21.
Items donated at this event will be provided to teachers for classroom usage at no-cost through the Education Foundations’ CMC Teacher Warehouse Store. These items are provided for the purposes of supporting students as well as teachers during the year in order to leverage educator funds and increase student achievement.
Teachers utilize the warehouse throughout the year to provide materials for their classrooms, including paper, pencils, erasers, markers, flash cards, learning games, hand sanitizer, tissues, books, binders, backpacks, and many other essential items. This initiative helps reduce the amount of money teachers pay out-of-pocket, which can be anywhere from $500-$1,000 per year.
In the past three years of Stuff the Bus, over 86,000 items have been donated, and more than 1,036 teachers have used the Teachers Warehouse, has provided nearly $41,000 in supply savings to local public school teachers.
5 Star Radio Group will have on-air personalities present both days of the event to help lead the effort. The public is encouraged to drop off supplies or monetary donations at any Wal-Mart location.
Volunteers are needed for July 22-24 to unload, organize, inventory, label, and stock the collected supplies.
