Gabriel Field is a parade ground surrounded by trees, with each tree representing a 5th Group soldier who has died in combat. A bronze plaque at the base of each tree is inscribed with the name, date and place of death.
Joel Pruitt, president of Chapter 38 of the Special Forces Association, said the association is dedicated to taking care of 5th Group soldiers and their families, and they were proud to help.
The support and donations of area Lowes stores has been amazing, said Doug Graves, Lowes district manager of North Nashville.
“They have a big event coming up on Memorial Day, and we want to make it right for all of the families of the lost soldiers,” Graves said.
