CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Kaitlyn Teeter had 14 kills, leading Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team to a three-set victory (25-21, 25-21, 25-16) against UT Martin, Saturday afternoon in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

Austin Peay (11-6, 2-0 OVC) swept through its OVC opening weekend and set up an early-season showdown against Murray State (7-7, 2-0 OVC), Tuesday, in Murray, Kentucky. The win also was the Governors sixth-straight win and third-straight sweep.

The Governors got off to an uneven start and UT Martin took advantage, using a 5-0 run to build an early 5-1 lead. Austin Peay would rally to tie the set, 6-6, but could not gain control. It took a pair of service aces by sophomore Christina White to spark a lead-taking 4-0 run. Freshman Ginny Gerig added two aces later in the set as the Govs built a 19-16 lead en route to the win.

Austin Peay dominated the second set, winning in wire-to-wire fashion. The Governors broke out to a 3-1 lead and built a 14-6 advantage later in the set before holding on for the 25-21 victory.

The Governors took control of the third set early with Teeter serving up a pair of aces as part of a 6-0 run that gave them a 12-6 lead. From there the teams traded points as Austin Peay eased to the 25-16 match-clinching win.

Teeter’s team-leading 14-kill outing was her seventh consecutive double-digit kill performance. Sophomore Logan Carger added 11 kills, one shy of her career best, and posted a career-high .500 attack percentage.

UT Martin (4-13, 0-2 OVC) was held to 30 kills and a .191 attack percentage. Macy Reigelsperger led the way with seven kills, but was charged with six attack errors and finished with a.042 attack percentage.
