MURRAY, Ky. – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team could not get its offense on track and dropped a three-set decision (19-25, 16-25, 14-25) to Murray State in Ohio Valley Conference action, Tuesday night at Racer Arena.
Austin Peay (11-7, 2-1 OVC) could not get its offense on track in its first conference road match. The Govs 22 kills were its fewest since the season opener at East Tennessee. Junior Kaitlyn Teeter was held to eight kills, ending her seven match streak with double-digit kills.
Murray State (8-7, 3-0 OVC) used big runs to gain control in each of the sets. It used a seven-point run to build a 20-11 advantage en route to a 25-19 win. The Racers scored the second set’s first seven points and never looked back in a wire-to-wire victory. The third set turned on Murray State’s 10-3 run that built a 16-6 lead that helped clinch the match.
Audrey Lewis led Murray State with 13 kills and a .308 attack percentage. Scottie Ingram chipped in 11 kills at a .385 attack percentage. The Racers finished with 47 kills, posting double-digit kills in each set, and a .321
attack percentage.
Austin Peay, which saw its six-match win streak end, will continue its four-match road trip with a 1 p.m. (CT), Saturday contest at Eastern Kentucky.
