CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police said two thieves recently lost a truck while trying to steal a trailer in the South Clarksville area.
On Thursday, June 21 two people in a black 1995 GMC Sonoma attempted to steal a two-axle trailer from a home on Cherokee Trail about 7:45 a.m.
A security camera recorded the theft and the white male passenger who connected the trailer to the truck. The driver did not get out of the vehicle.
The security system, which also has audio recording, picked up the sound of the truck and trailer crashing soon after rounding the corner, possibly because the heavy trailer pulled the bumper off the truck, according to police. Both truck and trailer were found soon after in a nearby wooded area after the crash.
Police do not know who the exact owner of the pickup truck is at this time. Anyone with information about the ‘Truckless Twosome’ is asked to contact Detective Josh Jobe at 931-648-0656, extension 5296.
“If the suspects wish to turn themselves in, they may do so at any Police Department office,” Clarksville Police Department spokesman Steve Warren said. “CPD Patrol officers are also available to assist if the suspects now need transportation.”
