CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s new Fire Chief Freddie Montgomery completed the department’s physical agility test on Tuesday, August 20, setting the pace for new recruits.
The course emulates scenarios a fire fighter may find themselves in while on the job, testing strength, stamina, and agility. Stages of the course include opening fire hydrants, carrying a dummy and navigating tight spaces meant to simulate the attic of a house. All of this is done in full gear.
Fire Rescue candidates are required to complete the agility test in under seven minutes. Chief Montgomery clocked in at three minutes and 49 seconds.
