CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville woman lost $1,500 after becoming the victim of a Craigslist scam.

According to Officer Natalie Hall with the Clarksville Police Department, the victim said she found a vehicle for sale on the site for $1,500 and contacted the seller, who used the name Flora Miller and told her to purchase the car through eBay Motors.

The victim was instructed by Miller and the website to purchase three Reloadit cards for $500 each. She bought the cards on Jan. 23 and was instructed to email the verification numbers on the cards.

The victim received payment verification and was told her vehicle would be shipped Jan. 24 and arrive Jan. 26. The vehicle did not arrive and she sent an -mail again and was advised they would require an additional $1,000 and would then send the vehicle with an estimated arrival date of Jan. 28.

She then realized it was a scam and was contacted by eBay, who told her to contact police.
