CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Labor and Veterans Placement and Staffing are hosting a Veterans Hiring Advantages Seminar for Human Resource Managers and employers on March 27 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
The intent of the seminar is to educate employers for hiring veterans in the workplace and to ensure that the HR managers receive credit for this seminar by the Human Resources Certification Institute. This seminar has been approved for 3 HRCI credits.
Highlights include: How veterans are an asset to the workplace (attendance, attention to detail, leadership, and other soft skills acquired by veterans), PTSD, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), Disabled veterans (Wounded Warriors), Veteran’s Priority of Service requirements (DOL) and Veterans Tax Credit.
This event will be open to all employers. Guest speakers include: Representative Joe Pitts, Dakota Meyer, Medal of Honor recipient, Owner/President Dakota Meyer Enterprises Harold Riggins, Fort Campbell Transitional Assistance Program Manager Chris Self, Education and Employment Initiative Regional Coordinator Duane Carter, Employment Coordinator, U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs June Tanner, Readjustment Counselor, U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs Dustin Frankenfield, Area Manager, Amazon Tracy Vinson, Regional Vice President, Veterans Placement and Staffing Jen Moore, Wounded Warrior Project, Warriors to Work Program.
Lunch will be provided for those who attend the seminar by Soul Food BBQ, a local veteran small business owner.
